Database Development
I provide expertise in creation of relational databases in MS Access, MS SQL Server or MySQL.
Development In MS Access can include: switchboards, multi-page data entry forms, complex reports, queries and macros. Forms are created for ease of use by data entry operators. Reports created are aesthetically pleasing.
I also provide assistance in manipulating and converting large-volumes of data for import/export into a database or spreadsheet program.
Database Projects
For the past few years, I have been retained by World University Service of Canada to undertake extensive changes to their existing MS Access alumni (contact management) database. This is a very large multi-user database used by staff in-house and also on their web site for data gathering. The database contains approximately 40 tables, 140 inter-linked forms, 100 reports, 200 queries and several macros.
Extensive work was done to the database to better meet the requirements identified by staff members and to improve the speed, security and functionality of the database for all users.
Other database development projects that I have undertaken include:
- Developed a user-friendly time management database in MS Access for a consultant to keep track of time spent on various jobs for invoicing purposes.
- Created a product database in MS Access for a ceramic bisque store for use both in-house and on-line.
- Created an on-line product database in MS Access for a souvenir store that was used to display products and to store customer orders.
- Designed and created an MS Access contact management database system for a car dealership. Various input forms, tables, queries and reports were prepared.
- Designed and created an MS Access project description database for an environmental consulting firm. An input form and a few sorting queries were set up to allow users to quickly extract the data required for proposal preparation and marketing initiatives.
- Undertook data entry, manipulation and analysis for the technical team working on the AERCo$tTM (Air Emissions Reduction Costing) Database.
- Prepared a technical the User's Guide for an emissions costing database program (AERCo$tTM) for Environment Canada (sub-contract).
